Unfortunately, because Moom can’t save the folders with the windows, I have to manually navigate to the proper folders after restoring these layouts…or do I? I have a number of saved layouts-one has my preferred window layout when working on Many Tricks projects, another that I use when I file documents I’ve scanned, and a third for managing my downloads. If Moom can’t match an existing window title, however, then it just works with the number of windows-if you saved a layout with four windows open across three apps, and you have that same number of windows open in those same apps, then Moom will restore your layout, but the windows won’t be opened to whatever they were displaying when you saved the layouts (because Moom can’t open files, folders, documents, URLs, etc.).Īs much as our users may wish it possible, it’s not feasible for Moom to restore whatever it is you were working on in whatever apps are in your saved layout-we’d end up writing lots of custom code on a per-app basis, and there are still some apps where we probably wouldn’t be able to get them to open documents, so we’d end up with a solution that only sort of worked.įor me personally, the only time I really want Moom to open the actual things I had in my saved layout are when I’m working in Finder. In general, Moom will attempt to match existing window titles with the titles of the windows in your saved layout-so if you have a Word document named “2020 Taxes” open, and that document was open when you saved the layout, then that window will go to where it was when you saved the layout. I prefer using the number pad on my larger keyboard when docked where the MBP built-in keyboard of course doesn’t have that.Moom is great for saving window layouts-arrangements of windows across one or more applications, making it easy to restore your windows to where you want them to be. My only complaint is the manual change for the hotkeys needed between use modes (docked/traveling) on my Pc. Windows or differently when my Pc is docked with an external screen and keyboard vs. I love that I can use both keyboard shortcuts and mouseover/mouse movements with this app - especially when I’m on my Pc vs. It makes screen snapping extremelly easy and quick. UPDATE: This was fixed and the app has worked rock solidly for years.ĭefinitely one of my favorite Windows utility apps. For Mojave, it still works with keystrokes and such, but I no longer get the pop-over when mousing over the green window maximize button. Still one of my all time favorite utilities. For now I just use the mouse-over on the window's green button in the remote Windows sessions. The only area where I wish it could perform magic is if the app could detect whether I'm in a remote session client app (like Windows's Screen Sharing) and then ignore the keystrokes and pass them through to Moom in the remote Windows OS session. ![]() It even works with remote desktops (outside the desktop on the entire session) and remote apps (on the whole app via keystroke only) such as VMware Horizon and Microsoft RDP clients. it gives me great joy to pen (type) this one I dont write eloquent reviews like this one often Working on my Windows has become even more enjoyable, something i though could not be possible I wish i had evaluated this app a long, long time agoįolks, this app represents everything that Windows development is all about: hurry, give these fine people the pittance they’re asking for the app (or try the demo first, you’ll pay) If you are meticulous about your window-based working environment, no matter how idiosyncratic, MooM is the app for you I’m here to tell you that MooM (i like that spelling) fits my need perfectly, and i’m using only a fraction of its capabilities my experience told me that no app could *ever* get close to satisfying my obsessive, OCD-like need for pixel-perfect alignment I have waisted *so much* time of my life worrying about sizing windows “just right” to fit my eccentric work habits but, because i’m a huge procrastinator, didnt try in until a few days ago ![]() I put this in my “to evaluate” list years ago, after hearing about it on a podcast
